What A Surprise!  Diamond Resorts CEO On “Undercover Boss”

Diamond Resorts CEO Had Us Both In Tears By The End Of The Show……

One of our favorite TV shows is “Undercover Boss” on Sunday evenings.  So, it was a surprise when this segment was about Diamond Resorts International and its founder, Stephen J. Clookbeck.  As in  all the other previous “Undercover Boss” shows, he was going to visit some of his Diamond Resorts disguised as a potential employee applying for various positions.

I mentioned to my wife that this should be interesting because I had written about Diamond Resorts in a previous post. By the end of the show,  we both had tears in our eyes and both required tissues. If you didn’t know anything about Diamond Resorts and their motto, ” Yes, we can,” you would have had tears in your eyes, also. We had tears because Mr Clookbeck generously rewarded 3-4 employees with whom he had met and worked  during his “Undercover Boss” experiences.

Now, to be fair, my wife and I are not advocates of the RCI points. We own 3 deeded weeks of time share properties that we purchased, on the resale market, with a total overall investment of $3,400. In the Jan/Feb 2012 issue of TimeSharing Today the front page article talks about how the RCI Points Settlement Moves Forward.   The article discusses a class action lawsuit by time share owners who felt they were conned by the points system of selling time share vacation properties. In the end, they will get ripped off again by only receiving $10 to $12 while the lawyers who negotiated the RCI settlement on behalf of the time share owners will receive $835,000.  What a wonderful world we live in. That’s just on the front page of the TimeSharing  Today Magazine!

Open up to the Editor’s page. On one page,  an RCI member wrote an article about receiving their winter edition of RCI’s Endless Vacation’s magazine. In short, the picture  on the front cover of the magazine is a  little straw-roofed hut perched on a rock-face over-looking the sea of Jamaica. How To Use Your Minnesota Transfer On Death Deeds

I have great news for Minnesota time share owners who own deeded time share vacation weeks at any of the time share resorts here in Minnesota. If you have a concern about the transfer of your time share property here in Minnesota, without going through probate, you can download the Minnesota Transfer On Death Deeds from the Minnesota Department of Commerce website by Clicking Here.

How does the Minnesota Transfer On Death Deed differ from the Missouri “Beneficiary Deed? Well, the Missouri Beneficiary Deed can be completed naming the beneficiaries while you are alive, and it can be filed with the local court house after the death of the time share owners in Missouri. The time share property is then exempt from Missouri probate.

Now here is the difference in Minnesota. The current time share owners can name any beneficiary they want the time share property go to, have it notarized, and filed with the county in which the time share is located before the death of the current owners. In other words, my wife and I own two time share deeded weeks at two different resorts in two different counties. We must file “Minnesota Transfer On Death Deeds” letting the recorders office know who our beneficiaries are before death.

and it will take you to the Minnesota Transfer On Death page. This also applies to any other real estate property that you may own in Minnesota. It means any real estate in Minnesota will go directly to the beneficiaries and avoid probate.

We reported on these time share schemes on August 18th, 2011   and  judgement day finally arrived for a woman who was a manager of one  or more of these telemarketing offices in South Florida.

A judge in East St Louis sentenced Jennifer Kirk of Howell, N.J. to more than 15 years in prison for her involvement in the time share scheme. The article said that she sobbed while making an apologetic statement to the judge before her sentencing. She was sobbing partly because she had young children and was wondering who was going to take care of her children while they were growing up and she was in prison. A person could almost feel sorry for her if you didn’t know her background.

Well, what about the  30  million dollars she bilked out of some 22,000 time share owners?  Wouldn’t she have set aside at least one million dollars to pay a baby sitter to raise her children while she served her time?  What in the world goes on with people like this?  She lived in New Jersey but ran several bogus time share schemes through various Florida offices.  Where is her husband in New Jersey?  Didn’t have a husband?  Well, where were her children while she ran these time share schemes in Florida?

Greed – and what it does to some people is terrible. I just don’t get it.
