Sedona Summit, Sedona, Arizona - July 2007

M son and I just outside our Sedona Summit timeshare accomodations, getting ready for a ride.
This vacation was planned 6 months earlier when my wife and I decided to vacation in Arizona. We submitted our request via the Internet, as we usually do. Part of our reason for choosing Arizona was to visit with my mother and my two brothers who have businesses in Sedona. It wasn't long, maybe less than 30 days, when we received word via the Internet from Interval International that we were confirmed to Sedona Summit, a 5 Star resort. WoW!! The excitement begins. This is one of the advantages of planning ahead the way I advocate on this website.
This was also to be a scooter trip, as we intended to haul two Suzuki Burgman 400 motor scooters, ours and our son's, to Sedona. Our son who lives in Minneapolis was to join us in Sedona, but was going to fly into Phoenix, AZ and spend 4 days with us at the resort. My two brothers and their children have motorcycles, so this was going to be a family affair with us all riding the roads in the Sedona area. During the week, we put on over 900 miles traveling the roads in and around Sedona, Jerome, Flagstaff and over the mountain. Biking the hairpin turns over the mountain is certainly different from biking in the Minnesota lakes area.
I don't think I can adequately describe Sedona Summit. It is a 5 Star Interval International resort. The Sedona Summit website can give you some more details. www.sedonasummit.com. Anyway, we arrived on Friday, July 27, checking in a little late, around 10:00 PM. Sometimes you wonder about the front desk service when you check-in late. Checking in went flawlessly. The check-in area was huge and the staff was very efficient.
Since we had traded our Interval International affiliated resort, also a 5 Star, two bedroom time share unit, we exchanged for a unit of equal value. We walked in and found a nice kitchen area, queen-size bed, and beautiful bathroom. Ooops! This was the lock-off unit. Then we walked into the main unit with a large kitchen, beautiful living room, bedroom, and bathroom with double sinks and a jacuzzi tub. Our son had the lock-off unit. We both had balconies with great views. This was going to be another fantastic vacation trade.
On Saturday the 28th, the resort had a continental breakfast and you could sign up for a tour if you wished to do so. We could not believe the continental breakfast. I haven't seen a layout of rolls, donuts, juice, and coffee like this at any other resort into which we've traded. They had a large TV in this area and also two online Internet connections. The lobby was also wired for wireless if you had brought your own computer.
Many people who have been to Arizona mentioned to us that we were going during Arizona's hottest season. Well, it was also the monsoon season. We had a great time and even traveled in the rain with our scooters. We enjoyed traveling around 900 miles and had a great time. We would highly recommend Sedona Summit to anybody interested in visiting the Sedona area.
